Achtung, Baby.

Last Saturday, I had the fortune to participate in a mission, with Improv Everywhere, a group dedicated to putting on pranks that confuse and delight (at the same time, usually) New Yorkers. This particular one had people running around the Penn Station area on the night of U2’s Madison Square Garden show, trying to spread the rumor of a free U2 rooftop pre-concert near the intersection of 29th and 8th Avenue, and then trying to get people to follow us to that spot, where, sure enough, on the rooftop, was a U2 cover band fronted by a Bono impersonator, who got to play for about half an hour before the police shut the whole thing down.

(Digital photography is so advanced these days that it can tell that I was looking at that red-haired girl a couple people to my left.)

Click here for the full story. I called myself Agent Bruise for some reason. The New York Times also did a write-up.

Fuck Pick Withers!

Here’s a funny story to tide you over while we finish the tinkering we need to do to get the newest video up.

There has been a sign posted on the inside of the elevator of my building that I have been following with interest. for a week:

Hey Neighbors

I have a friend who is in
DIRE STRAITS
and needs an apartment
ASAP
as in today or tomorrow.
Please Email her (Krystal)
At (handwritten e-mail address)

If you can assist her.
Thanks Liz from (Apartment Number)

Well, hell, I had a pen on me, and I’d had a little to drink the first night that I saw this in the elevator. So of course I wrote a little something right next to the Dire Straits part:

I’d room with Mark Knopfler, hell yeah!

A few days later, someone else had written under my comment.

Fuck yeah, I would!

A few days later, in a different handwriting:

But not Pick Withers, fuck him.

Later, a note that I think was by the “Fuck yeah, I would” guy:

Fuck Pick Withers!

The sign had been taken down this morning by the time I could reply/steal it.

Video coming soon, I swear.

Signs of Life

Hey, true believers, it’s been way too long since we updated, but that’s good, because it means that we’re damn busy with rehearsals for our second all-new show coming up tomorrow.

The wheres and whens and whats and opening acts are up on The Front Page

Mostly, though, this post is a placeholder to proclaim the glorious truth that there will be a new video sketch up by Monday, followed in a little while by another one that we’ve already got in the can.

See you guys on Saturday, I hope.

UPDATE (6:50 PM Monday May 9th): Probably not today, actually, but soon, for the video. We’re having some trouble with our compressing application. When you see the content, you’ll understand why we want to get it so tiny. We’ll make a new blog post in the meantime, though.
