This has nothing to do with Laura K. Krishna

Take a short break from all this Laura K. Krishna silliness, and watch A Week of Kindness’ latest (and first) filmed sketch, iContact.

No one cares about AWOK - they're only here to read about your possibly fake Laura story, not your lameass sketches. Enjoy your 5 seconds.

Damn, harsh.

I'd be milking it too...he has put in a lot of effort into his evil little scheme and has earnt his 15 minutes of fame.

adde must care, he even used our acronym!!! acronyms mean love, a simple truth of life!

i'm hiding in these comments because I'm scared of all of the comments out on the other posts. this internet is a dangerous place.

bb must have seen our show, he said "milking it" clearly a reference to the milk rap and milk men sketches!

Hi All,

I have a joke.

This guy listens to some music that he doesn't like, then he vomits. Is that funny?

Posted by: Dave at March 30, 2005 04:12 PM

Dave, your face is funny. Psych!

I thought this thread *wasn't* about the p-a-h-l er, I mean, Krishna thing? At any rate... it was a good read. I've never been so interested in a blog before. I even saw that there was a valid online news story. I hope you guys get some spill over attention from this. I mean, it won't be from me (I'm a west coastie). But I really hope you do. Looking forward to any updates on Laura. Good luck to you all....

Ok. So, I watched the iContact thing. Mildly amusing. The chick was HOT though. Coincidentally, I have a paper due on IPODS....
could the hot chick IM me so we can discuss this?

Oh yeah. My AIM name is tHcRaKmAn.

An enjoyable silent comedy. Nice. Just recently took part in a film that happened on a subway myself... can I ask? Did you have the necessary permits to film there? Or was it a film-and-run?

Posted by: Chris Willott at April 1, 2005 04:32 AM

Chris, the MTA is now considering levying fines to people who film on subways without permits. At the moment, there's no penalty in place, but that could change. But no, we didn't ask anyone, because at this juncture, nobody needs to. There was actually another film crew in the same car, who had a camera twice as big, and were obviously something more serious.

that was a cute little ditty. but this leads me to the question.....what music causes such adverse reactions???? lol.

Posted by: nailllls at May 7, 2005 03:50 PM

New York hipster kids can force themselves to pretend to like some pretty unpleasant music, nailllls. Let it be known that we did not mean to imply that the Elvis Costello song was causing vomiting.

Our original plan was to show screen shots of the ipods.

I renamed a track so that I could get my screen to read:

Goddamn Gang of Four Song
Fucking Gang of Four
Fucking Gang of Four Album

The other iPods had similar messages on them, too. However, under those lighting conditions, we couldn't get the text on the screens to show up in any kind of readable way, so we cut that particular part out.

(I like Gang of Four, by the way. They are an influential and unpleasant rock band, but I have learned to like them.)

ahhhh. Very interesting. I might have to see what I can find on them. By the way, thamk you for answering! keep this up and I may never stop comng back to this site! Such pleasant people!

The album that people talk about when they talk about Gang of Four is called Entertainment!, from 1979. However, I've never heard it, since it's been out of print in America (I forget actually if it's out of print, or if it's never actually been on CD at all). Every time I go to a record store, I always have a twinge of desire to pick up a really expensive imported version. And I've also tried, on occasion to get it from filesharing, but it's been impossible to find there too.

There are rumors of a CD rerelease this year, though, probably to coincide with the reunion tour. And there will actually be a new GoF album too, apparently. The rumors I've heard are that half of it will be re-recordings of old stuff, so I couldn't tell you right now whether that will be worth the purchase.

What's in print right now is a CD that contains two of their albums, Solid Gold, and Hard.

Hard is awful, and most people agree on that. Solid Gold is excellent, once you've done the hard work of learning to like it.

And probably the biggest band that claims them as an influence is R.E.M.

Search www.allmusic.com for a more reliable history about them than I can provide.

Did you pay Elvis Costello for the rights to his music? Tad hypocritical to "expose" someone for plagiarism when you're commiting intellectual property theft yourself, asshole.

You and your pathetic, unfunny mime troupe suck. Don't quit your day job, asswipe.

Posted by: Don'tquit Yourdayjob at May 11, 2005 07:25 PM

ahhh. Thank you, and since my sick and twisted self can like almost any kind of music. I think I might have to go out and get me the good album. Heck, even if I don't like it, I'm sure I can at least use it to annoy people!

Posted by: nailllls at May 13, 2005 10:33 PM

That reissue I was talking about apparently just came out on Rhino this week. It's called Entertainment!, and I've finally gotten to hear it. Sounds pretty classic to me. Hard is still almost completely awful, though.

Posted by: Nate Kushner at May 13, 2005 11:57 PM

Hey Nate, did you know that we were in a mime troupe?
